Where Are The Games?

December 23, 2006

The first thing I thought when I rezzed in Second Life was: “Where are the games?” I almost uninstalled the client before I discovered one. It was a really close call. I had even had the mouse poised over the uninstall icon, ready to click, before thinking to myself: “Ok, one more look around.”

Imagine the horror of missing out on all of this fun!

Finding games isn’t always easy in Second Life. I can only imagine how many people we lose from the Second Life community who rez, find nothing of interest, and leave never having known what they were missing. If you are one of those people, let me assure you: there’s excitement to be had. There are wonders to behold in this world, young traveler. Allow me to show you a few!

  2. Haha, so interesting to read this post. It could relate to that 100%. But I went all the way, actually. At least on my first time.

When I first found out about SL, about a year or so ago, I got there, started looking around for stuff to do, and found nothing. Eventually, I found a casino. Then porn. Then another casino. More porn.
So I searched for interesting terms, and got to places filled with.. you guessed, slot machines and nude skins.
I ended up uninstalling the game after a week, tops.

Now I’m back. Who knows why I decided to give it another try, but I’m sure glad I did. It’s so vast, so much potential. I know many places, and yet I feel like I’m just touching the tip of an iceberg, and blogs like yours confirm my idea.
I’ve just read through all your entries, and got to the last (or first) one. I have a handful of slurls, group names, websites, content that will keep me busy for.. as long as I want to, really.

So, I just wanted to say thanks, let you know how much I appreciate the effort to reveal some of the hidden places in SL.
Now, if you excuse me, I’ve got some exploring to do 🙂
