Deutsche Post opens Winter Games in Second Life
Avatars must deliver top class performances like postmen
Bonn, 11th December 2007. Under the slogan “Take up the challenge!“, the Deutsche Post is opening the “Deutsche Post Winter Games“ on December 12 in the online world Second Life. The role of the virtual sportsmen and women is to
deliver a postcard safely and quickly to its destination. On the way, they must perform at the highest possible level and give their all: just like the Deutsche Post employees in their First Life.
The best twenty avatars qualify for the grand final on January 26th 2008. They then take on each other directly in the battle for victory. But before that, they must prove their abilities in three winter disciplines on Post Island: they have to master the rapid downhill ski and snowboard piste, conquer the bobsleigh run and dare to jump from the airy heights of the ski jump.
The winner receives high class winter sport equipment from Head and Tyrolia, worth 500 euros. The avatars in places two and three are rewarded with cash prizes of 25,000 Linden dollars, and those placed from fourth to tenth receive 10,000 Linden dollars each. All Second Life residents over the age of 18 are entitled to enter.
As an innovative communications provider, the Deutsche Post has been present in the online world Second Life since May 2007. The 3D platform now has more than 11 million users worldwide.

The Pontiac island, Motorati, is a great place to play. There are all kinds of things to do, from organised racing to bumper cars. Pontiac’s site, more than any other corporation build that I have seen in Second Life, succeeds in creating a community and a great place to visit. However, if you haven’t checked it out yet you will need to hurry. as Motorati will be closing to the public at the end of December, and Pontiac will leave Second Life entirely at the end of January.
In their own words, “Motorati Island has been a huge success, due in large part to the hard work and love each of you put into the island. It has been an amazing year and together we’ve built what many people think is the coolest place in Second Life.”
I’m surprised they aren’t going to hang on until Havok4 arrives, but then again, maybe that wouldn’t make any difference.

A wonderful sim that captivates the eye for the candy is a plenty here. This Roleplay sim has many hidden features and is set on a 3 level tier build, the owner and builder Dannon Robbiani has taken much care and dedication to detail this great sim. This opens to a dock area that channels through gates of theis medieval setting, a large market, and the second set of gates opens to a very detaild dragon statue and castle with many towers.
Beyond the castle is the warriors arena, one of the nicest around, across from the arena is also two grand builds, the cathedral and the ballroom which nothing compares. It has a very nicely set village for its residents and an entry to the underworld below, Incan temples, dark forests, foggy hills laiden with quicksand and a dark tower centered on water. in the market you can find a globe that will take you to the 3rd tier which is the Drakes Cove, lush forest crystal caves and a dragons lair, some resident prefer to reside here but even all the shops and home rentals are cheap for this kind of detail. The ballroom is a formal waltz ballroom so bring your tuxes and gowns for this prestigous place. dances start at 7pm nightly.

Etheria Parrott, one of the creative Tiny citizens of Raglan Shire, has devised a contest that promises to be excellent fun for both participants and those who like to watch and cheer. An ice sculpty sculpture contest! It sounds like just the thing to help us get into the holiday spirit, and is part of a month of winter activities at Raglan Shire. Note that one needn’t be a Tiny to enter, and bear in mind that the resulting ice sculpture garden will be, I believe, an excellent place for photographers to visit.
